Senior Delivery Manager

Role Overview
As a Senior Delivery Manager in Technology, you will be responsible for delivering high‑value, complex initiatives across all areas of technology. You will work in collaboration with the business to understand their needs, drive results, and deliver excellence. You will manage risks, issues and budget, and ensure initiatives are delivered to schedule, budget, scope, and the highest quality standards. You will also work with multiple third parties and matrix teams, fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement. This role initially leads the tech delivery of a new commercial space planning system (Blue Yonder).
Responsibilities
- Manage the execution of high‑value Technology and Transformation initiatives up to £3m across multiple business domains.
- Collaborate with initiative sponsors and key stakeholders within the business Stores team to ensure shared ownership and customer‑centric delivery.
- Lead cross‑functional change through best‑in‑class project, programme, and change management.
- Maintain stakeholder relationships and communicate change broadly.
- Lead high‑performing delivery teams, ensuring knowledge management and collaboration with the business.
- Oversee performance of internal and external suppliers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Establish and sustain an effective governance framework to provide appropriate oversight and control.
- Own key deliverables across the life cycle, applying appropriate methodologies to achieve wider aims:
- Create and maintain comprehensive plans, status updates, risk & issue logs using Planview.
- Communicate interdependencies clearly.
- Maintain initiative budget and forecast.
- Provide governance and portfolio‑level reporting.
- Manage schedule and resource dependencies.
- Define and deliver detailed business requirements through collaboration with business, IT, and third parties.
- Ensure realistic estimates of cost, time, quality and resources; manage deviations using formal change control and impact assessments.
Required Experience
- 4+ years of project or programme management experience within the retail industry.
- Experience delivering in large, complex organisations (e.g., FTSE250 or top‑tier professional services).
- Familiarity with Blue Yonder space planning systems (desired).
- Commerce/retail implementation experience beneficial.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and development life cycles (Waterfall, Agile, Continuous Improvement).
- Expertise in financial forecasting, budget management and control.
- Experience with enterprise‑scale technology platforms such as Mulesoft, Oracle, Salesforce and Microsoft Azure.
- Experience managing third‑party vendors and outsourced partners.
- Effective communication with stakeholders, including technical discussions with product owners.
- High resilience and organisational skills to manage multiple teams.
- Flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
- Drive, motivation and ability to deliver results.
- Self‑starter willing to hit the ground running.
- Influencer and negotiator, operating well in structured and unstructured environments.
