Your Role in a Nutshell
- Lead the delivery of complex digital products and services, ensuring the team stays focused on user needs while navigating technical and organizational constraints.
- Optimize the team’s “flow” by identifying systemic bottlenecks and implementing Lean or Agile improvements to increase pace and quality.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable delivery plans, managing complex backlogs and roadmaps in collaboration with Product Owners.
- Proactively manage senior stakeholders, navigating conflicting priorities and negotiating realistic expectations through data‑driven insights.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with clients, supporting them in developing their organizational agility and delivery maturity.
- Identify, track, and mitigate complex risks and dependencies across multiple project streams.
- Use advanced metrics (e.g., Lead Time, Throughput, Quality) to provide transparent reporting and drive team performance improvements.
- Coach and mentor junior and intermediate Delivery Managers and actively shape Hippo’s Delivery community of practice.
About The Candidate
Essential Experience
- Expertise in Delivery Management within an Agile/Lean environment, with a focus on delivering high‑value digital services.
- Proven ability to build and lead high‑performing, multi–disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
- Significant experience in managing delivery within complex stakeholder environments, including those following GDS (Government Digital Service) standards.
- Experience in various estimation and planning techniques, choosing the most appropriate for the project’s maturity and complexity.
- Ability to analyze performance data and financial metrics to help the team and client make informed strategic decisions.
- Experience planning and adjusting delivery governance to ensure the right level of oversight without hindering the team’s agility.
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing delivery across a portfolio of work or multi‑team programs.
- Ability to help set project KPIs and ensure all delivery work contributes to achieving meaningful organizational transformation.
- Track record of contributing to professional delivery communities and offering constructive feedback to peers through mentorship.

Location Requirements
Hippo is headquartered in Leeds and has offices across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol. Candidates should be located within reasonable travelling distance from one of our offices. Depending on project needs you may be required to work on‑site at a Hippo office or at a client location, and should be open/flexible to travel and work on one of those sites at least 2 days per week. We offer a generous relocation support package of up to £8,000 (please ask for terms and conditions).
