Maintenance Operative – Client Direct – North London – £40,000 – Mon to Fri – 8am to 4pm
This role is client direct and part of the in-house estates team. You will help ensure that buildings remain safe, presentable, and fully operational for staff, students, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the estate
- Completing basic plumbing repairs including taps, toilets and minor leaks
- Performing general carpentry and fabric maintenance works
- Painting, decorating and making good throughout the buildings
- Assisting with room set-ups for meetings, functions, events and examinations
- Supporting furniture moves and departmental relocations
- Carrying out routine inspections and reporting defects
- Replacing ceiling tiles, locks, ironmongery and fixtures
- Assisting contractors during maintenance and project works
- Maintaining high presentation standards across the site
- Completing maintenance records and job sheets accurately
- Supporting the wider estates and facilities team with operational requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience within facilities maintenance, estates, caretaking or building maintenance
- Strong all-round maintenance and handyman skills
- Experience carrying out basic plumbing, carpentry and fabric repairs
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
- Good communication and organisational skills
- HVAC knowledge or experience would be highly beneficial
- Reliable, proactive and team focused attitude
