About the Role
The BSH Facilities Engineer supports the BSH Facilities Manager in all facets of facilities within our datacentres (BSH’s) to ensure they are in optimum safe, secure and operational condition for overall effectiveness and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain all electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment within the data centre.
- Manage datacentre operations including IP‑related and wireless infrastructure in accordance with Boldyn Network UK’s goals, policies, best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Act as the business expert for all datacentre related activities.
- Lead the DC Facilities team, support partner and third‑party DC provider relationships, ensuring adherence to contractual responsibilities, SLAs and KPIs.
- Assist with build and delivery of Base Station Hotels / Datacentres and manage related preventative maintenance programs.
- Maintain planned preventative and reactive maintenance programs for datacentre critical systems.
- Monitor equipment performance to ensure correct operation of critical services.
- Ensure team compliance with the Company’s Safety Program.
- Develop and update Emergency Operations Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures, including SOP and EOP documentation.
- Manage third‑party and in‑house preventative maintenance programs and the Maintenance Provider to resolve trouble tickets promptly.
- Act as the primary contact for customer dispatches and site visits.
- Build and maintain cooperative relationships with customers, landowners and vendors.
- Forecast repair and maintenance, participate in operational reporting and analysis, and provide monthly data.
- Prepare weekly updates and status reports for the Service & Operations Team BSH Team.
- Lead resolution of Base Station Hotel disasters, incidents and major service interruptions.
- Monitor sub‑contractor availability for current and future projects.
- Plan resources for facilities and datacentres, including materials and equipment.
- Preserve assets and information by implementing disaster recovery, backup procedures, information security and control structures.
- Ensure confidentiality and overall security of all IT resources, the network and sensitive company, customer, vendor, contractor and employee information.
- Support operations outside normal hours during critical maintenance windows or unforeseen incidents when required.
Qualifications
- Experience in building systems in datacentres, including electrical and mechanical knowledge of mains power feeds, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, CRAC and CRAH units, building management systems (BMS) and power management systems (PMS).
- Electrical or mechanical qualification or experience.
- Detail‑oriented with experience in datacentre systems, protocols and best practices.
- Ability to present complex technical problems and resolution options in a clear, well‑thought‑out and easily understandable manner.
