Your role
The principal Civil Pipeline Engineer will be part of a multi‑disciplinary team delivering iconic projects to water market clients. Your responsibilities include:
- Coordinate or manage a team of Civil Pipeline engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi‑disciplinary projects, following relevant national and project‑specific design codes and standards.
- Produce and review technical deliverables such as design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
- Provide technical input into project design deliverables for Civil Pipeline aspects, working with the project management team to manage time and budgets to achieve key milestones.
- Collaborate with client, operational, project or service activities within the immediate team and other AtkinsRéalis teams.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues and support the growth of Civil Pipeline Engineering capabilities within the local team.
- Work independently with minimal technical guidance, exercising judgment to solve difficult problems and providing guidance to junior team members.
- Provide technical support for bid proposals.
- Work closely with a multi‑disciplinary team in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards in design, checking and reviewing own work as well as that of others.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer.
- Proven experience coordinating or managing a Civil Pipeline engineering design delivery team within a consultancy, in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
- Broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in pipeline design, construction, rehabilitation, condition assessment, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of current UK and international design codes and standards, and industry best practices, including CDM Regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
- Proficiency in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following local and national guidance (e.g., HADES and Varism).
- Strong communication skills, able to convey technical concepts clearly within diverse multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and shared success.

Security Clearance
This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If required, the vetting process will be discussed with you at interview. Candidates must provide proof of UK residency of five years or longer.
