Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ) is one of the UK’s most ambitious decarbonisation projects, transforming depleted gas fields in the East Irish Sea into a world‑class carbon storage hub. By safely capturing, transporting and permanently storing CO₂ from heavy industry, MNZ will play a vital role in helping the UK achieve its net zero targets while supporting thousands of skilled jobs across the country.

Position: PMO & Planning Lead

Location: Aberdeen

Duration: 1 year contract

Contract type: PAYE

Responsibilities

  • Establish, lead and maintain the project management office (PMO) for the MNZ portfolio, providing governance, control, assurance and decision support across the full project lifecycle.
  • Maintain project schedules, risk registers, opportunity registers, and change control processes across the development portfolio.
  • Support project manager(s) to maintain project schedule and cost compliance.
  • Ensure risks are appropriately documented and managed in compliance with procedures and shareholder expectations.
  • Work with Finance, Cost & Reporting Analyst to maintain project spend forecasts.
  • Support project governance activities and compliance, including gates.
  • Drive continuous improvement, actively seeking value‑adding opportunities and identifying issues for consideration of project manager(s) and other team members.
  • Act as a neutral integrator, resolving conflicts between disciplines where required.
  • Develop long‑term PMO plans and solutions.
  • Ensure the project demonstrates control, predictability and professionalism throughout its lifecycle to build credibility and confidence with stakeholders.
  • Any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Subject matter expert in Primavera P6 planning software.
  • Extensive experience in PMO leadership on large (£500m+) infrastructure, energy, or industrial capital projects.
  • Deep understanding of project controls, governance, and assurance.
  • Familiar with carbon storage infrastructure and the capital project development cycle.
  • Degree in engineering, project management, finance or related discipline.
  • Professional accreditation (APM, PMP, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Must have existing right to work in the UK or be able to provide proof of right to work.
  • Notice period/availability to start is required in the application.
  • Pay rate is PAYE day rate, to be discussed as part of the application process.
