City & Hackney Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service
CONSULTANT CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST
8 PA’s per week
A Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is required for City & Hackney Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. These clinical sessions are located within our Neurodevelopmental Pathway and Behaviour Support and Outreach Team (6 sessions and 2 sessions respectively). These are long-established consultant sessions, with the vacancy arising due to the ending of a fixed term contract.
Applications will be welcomed from candidates included in or eligible for the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining the CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder would be expected to provide Consultant input and clinical leadership to the Neurodevelopmental Pathway and provide one day per week input to the Behaviour Support and Outreach Pathway. The role of the Consultant is to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment, contribute a psychiatric perspective, provide senior clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, offer consultation to other professionals and agencies and facilitate the development of the team and wider service.
You will join 4 (3.2 WTE) other Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists based in C&H CAMHS. In addition to the above clinical duties, clinical supervision, teaching, training and research, the service takes part in the Trust’s active and extensive Healthcare Governance and Quality Improvement agenda.
The local population is very diverse with high levels of deprivation. There are good working relationships with Community CAMHS, Social Care, Education and Third Sector agencies through the C&H CAMHS Alliance.
Job responsibilities
It is envisaged that the post holder will work 8 programmed activities over 4 days. The overall split of the programmed activities is 5.5 to be devoted to direct clinical care and 2.5 to supporting professional activities (as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommendation). The timetable is indicative only and can be changed.
The job plan will be adjusted accordingly to reflect any additional management or other responsibilities. While it is expected that the majority of time will be Face to Face in the clinic, some working from home can be agreed as appropriate.
A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and Clinical Director or Lead Psychiatrist three months after commencing the post and at least annually thereafter. As and when services are reconfigured, clinical duties will need to be renegotiated accordingly.
