Product Owner

Barbican, London | Hybrid Working | Technology | Permanent | Full-Time

Competitive Salary Available, Depending On Experience

37.5 hours per week

Nuffield Health is the charity that’s building a healthier nation, one day at a time. From award-winning hospitals and leisure facilities to flagship community programmes – we’ll do whatever it takes to look after the UK’s wellbeing. It starts with passion and commitment to quality. It starts with you.

Role Overview

As a Product Owner you’ll bring demonstrable knowledge, skills and experience in product ownership, well-developed stakeholder management skills and first-class communication. You will be commercially savvy with the ability to plan, design and build a product roadmap that delivers significant ROI and have a good understanding of developing trends in healthcare related digital experience. This role contributes to building a healthier nation through ownership of Nuffield Health’s products. You will create a product vision, product roadmap, size benefits and prioritise initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own and communicate a clear product vision that connects delivery to organisational strategy and measurable outcomes. Collaborate with the squad to build and maintain a prioritised backlog of well-defined user stories, each with explicit acceptance criteria and documented value.
  • Lead regular backlog refinement sessions, ensuring at least three sprints of “ready for delivery” work is maintained at the head of the backlog at all times.
  • Prioritise backlog items based on user need, strategic alignment and delivery effort, revisiting priorities as context changes.
  • Articulate the “why” behind each backlog item to the squad – linking it to specific business objectives, pathway outcomes or user problems being solved.
  • Create conditions for the team to self- generate value-adding stories, providing coaching and clear guardrails rather than top-down direction.
  • Act as the primary decision-maker on scope, sequencing and trade-offs within the squad, escalating only where cross-team or strategic dependencies require it.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the product landscape – including comparable tools, emerging capabilities and relevant NHS or health sector developments – and use this to inform prioritisation and product direction.
  • Track and communicate the realised value of delivered work, closing the loop between what was built and what benefit was achieved.
  • Product’s Primary PO will be looking after Physio, Health Assessments and Charity Initiatives of Nuffield.

Benefits

We want you to love coming to work, feeling healthy, happy and valued. We offer a range of fitness, lifestyle, health and wellness rewards, such as free gym membership, health assessments, retail discounts and pension options.
