Job Summary
Senior Project Managers play a key role within Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM), leading the delivery of high-impact programmes that drive innovation and improvement across health and care systems. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, you will manage projects spanning real‑world evaluation, innovation adoption, funding opportunities and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a range of projects, ensuring delivery to time, budget and quality standards.
- Develop and implement project plans, monitor progress, manage risks and report on outcomes.
- Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate engagement, support the adoption and spread of innovations, and ensure successful delivery across programmes.
- Assess business development opportunities, contribute to funding bids and income generation, and analyse data to evaluate impact.
- Support strategic planning and help shape new programmes aligned to organisational priorities.
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant degree or equivalent training and postgraduate‑level experience in a related arena.
- Postgraduate project management qualification or proven equivalent practical experience.

Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of managing projects from set‑up through planning, process mapping, data analysis and implementation of change initiatives in healthcare settings.
- Experience of innovation and improvement interventions implemented in health and care settings.
- Evidence of using a variety of quality improvement and service redesign approaches with health and care settings.
- Experience of organising and managing meetings involving different sectors, agencies and professions.
- Evidence of patient or user involvement initiatives throughout programme or project delivery.
- Experience presenting reports, managing feedback and questions at senior management level.
- Experience of adoption and spread within and across organisations.
- Experience of data analytics.
Desirable
- Experience working with industry and/or higher education institutions.
- Evidence of influencing professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, including clinicians and industry partners.
- Operational and/or clinical experience within a health or care setting.
- Experience of working in or with commercial businesses and investors.
