Overview

The Major Crime Department are looking to recruit a HOLMES Disclosure Officer to join our Serious Crime Directorate based at Dunmow Police Station. This is a specialist role at the forefront of serious and complex investigations, including homicides and high-risk, high-harm enquiries. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with experience in investigation and disclosure.

This role is office agile with at least three days a week in the office at Rayleigh or Dunmow Police Station, with a requirement for further attendance at a Major Incident Room (MIR) if operationally required. The role offers flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and the individual’s suitability for home working.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess large volumes of material to determine relevance and disclosure obligations under the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996.
  • Prepare disclosure schedules and maintain accurate records.
  • Work closely with Case Officers in Major Crime Cases to ensure that relevant information is available, accurately recorded and accessible.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to determine relevance and disclosure obligations.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of investigations by maintaining high standards of data integrity and task management.

Essential and Desirable Skills

Essential:

  • Experience in complex and major investigation.
  • Have a strong understanding of CPIA and associated guidelines.
  • Experience in preparation and maintenance of disclosure schedules.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • A professional approach to teamwork and collaboration.

Desirable:

  • Show commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
  • Display familiarity with digital and smart technologies.
