About the Role

JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK, and we would love to speak with you if you are an experienced PAT Engineer with the equipment and insurance in place. If you are already self‑employed or considering becoming self‑employed, we would like to hear from you.

All our engineers must have their own insurance and calibrate their equipment at least once a year. In return, we provide an engineer handbook, a contract for services and branded clothing, labels and technical support.

Job Description

We are looking for engineers to join our team in Kingsbridge. The role offers flexible hours, allowing part‑time or full‑time work. The duties include traveling to various sites (hospitals, retail outlets, offices), conducting portable appliance testing (PAT) on items such as microwaves, kettles, computers, and other electrical equipment, informing users of results, and completing test reports and required paperwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Pack and transport testing equipment to job sites
  • Perform PAT on a wide range of appliances
  • Inform users of test results and explain any necessary repairs or replacements
  • Record findings in a dedicated test report book or electronic system
  • Complete completion certificates and checklists as required
  • Maintain and calibrate all testing instruments and ensure they meet relevant regulations

A typical day involves packing equipment, traveling to the first job, conducting tests, reporting results, and moving to the next location. The work is physically and mentally demanding but rewarding, as it contributes to workplace safety and offers opportunities for career advancement.
