Insight Application Manager

About the Role
The Insight Application Team sits within the wider Product Insight & Ideation team in Propositions at Cambridge English and works cross‑functionally to deliver on our mission to help shape the future of English by bridging the gap between research and decision‑making. The work takes place at the intersection of research and practice, and we proactively ensure that English can translate the highest quality educational insights from around the world into strategy, product development, teacher training and services, and educational guidance.
This role focuses on staying current with the latest research and evidence in ELT and applying these insights to innovate new education products and strategy. Projects vary widely, from inclusive pedagogies and teacher development to emerging technologies and socio‑emotional learning.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Proactively seeking out the latest educational insights and trends globally, specifically related to areas in English language teaching, learning and assessment.
- Translating educational and/or market insights into tangible propositions for English, such as new product design, refinement of existing products or teacher support.
- Collaborating cross‑functionally with colleagues focused on research and development within English to maximise impact and strategic alignment.
- Commissioning external experts to support our work, including writing project briefs, setting timelines and quality‑assuring deliverables.
- Recommending frameworks and best practices for content development and process improvement.
- Advising on ethical and pedagogical considerations in emerging technologies, including AI in education.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation and recommending changes to enhance customer experience for teachers, learners, parents and senior leadership within schools.
This is a hybrid role, with the selected candidate expected to spend a minimum of 40% of their time (two days a week) collaborating face‑to‑face. Flexible working requests will also be considered from the first day of employment.
About You
You will be educated to degree level or an industry standard equivalent with a strong understanding of teaching and learning English, either as a teacher and/or learner of English. Whether you are a former teacher or learner, you must have at least 3 years’ experience of either educational research (ideally with a focus on English language teaching and learning) or teaching.
You should be familiar with what constitutes high‑quality research insights, including research tools, methodologies and current developments in education. You should also have expertise in at least two of the following areas: curriculum design, linguistics, ELT and pedagogy, educational psychology or socio‑emotional learning.
Requirements
- A postgraduate qualification specialising in ESOL, Education, Psychology, Applied Linguistics or a related field.
- Experience in the design of educational materials and/or corpus linguistics.
