THE ROLE
We are seeking a UK-qualified solicitor to join our legal team as Legal Director or Senior Legal Counsel (dependent on experience), reporting to the General Counsel and Group Company Secretary. This role is part of a small, experienced, agile team that supports legal, non‑marine compliance and company secretarial work across our group, with a particular focus on property, construction and infrastructure projects supporting the company’s growth.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Mid to senior‑level UK‑qualified solicitor, ideally 5‑8 years of post‑qualification experience (PQE), but other experience levels are welcome if the required skills are demonstrated.
- Strong technical background in property and infrastructure law, especially pier and land development; experience with public‑private partnerships and asset management is preferred.
- Broad in‑house skill set, including commercial contracting, procurement, sales, marketing and communications, and transactional work.
- Opportunity to manage legal budgets, advisor panels, functional design work and team development, eventually leading to a higher‑level role.
- Interest in legal technology and operations is desirable but not essential.
- Experience or willingness to engage in corporate, finance and governance work, including M&A and transactional projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal support across a wide range of matters using strong research, analysis and drafting skills to meet commercial objectives and manage risk.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Development Officer and Chief Commercial Officer to support the legal aspects of growth and development projects.
- Handle data protection, privacy and complex IT matters where appropriate, while gaining exposure to corporate, finance and governance work.
- Carry out legal research, stay abreast of legal developments and industry best practice, and share updates with the team and business.
- Develop precedent documentation and legal processes; identify and recommend process improvements and the implementation of legal technology solutions.

LOCATION & TRAVEL
- Head office is located in East London at Trinity Buoy Wharf, near the River Thames. Public transport includes Canning Town (Jubilee) and East India (DLR).
- Flexible working/hybrid arrangements are supported and respected.
- The position is permanent and full‑time, with options for a four‑day work week or other flexible arrangements to be discussed during the interview.
