SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full Time

We are currently recruiting experienced and dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistants to join specialist schools across Guildford. These full-time positions offer an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes.
- Promote a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support students with communication, independence, and life skills.
- Record and monitor student progress, reporting observations to teaching staff.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs is essential.
- Experience within a specialist school, alternative provision, care setting, or similar environment is highly desirable.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or related fields are advantageous.
- Applicants must hold the necessary qualifications and training for this role.
- Valid enhanced DBS check is required.
