The Role

We are looking for an experienced Building Management System (BMS) design engineer with expertise in Process Logic Controllers (PLC) / Supervisory Controls And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems or Direct Digital Controllers (DDC) and BMS Supervisory systems. Experience in the data centre sector and understanding of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) is preferred. An excellent knowledge of controlling mechanical plant and systems and monitoring electrical equipment is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with clients and design teams (architect, civil, electrical, IT, mechanical, public health, structural engineers, etc.) to create innovative designs, make changes, comment on submittals, witness software bench tests, factory witness tests, review, and comment on the installation and witness the completed installation.
  • Work within the Building Automation team (currently 20 team members globally) and advise on and develop technical standards, details and specifications relating to controls and provide advice on appropriate control strategies.
  • Participate in project site visits – typically four to six week‑long trips per year – to observe installations and see work in action.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with either BMS, DDC and Supervisory platforms or PLC and SCADA in a consultancy or contracting organization.
  • Expert understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning processes to maintain optimal air quality, temperature, humidity and pressures.
  • Effective problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues quickly and implement efficient solutions, minimizing system downtime.
  • Strong communication skills to produce clear documentation and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring stakeholders are aligned and the system operates smoothly.
  • A demonstrable track record working with building automation industry is preferred, but enthusiasm to learn, develop skills, and perform at the highest standard is essential.
