Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Mildenhall, Suffolk

Location: Mildenhall, Suffolk

Working hours: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week

Position: Permanent

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Our client is a leading manufacturer in their field and is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support their production facility. Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance of production machinery and ancillary equipment
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs
• Strip down machinery to replace worn or broken components
• Complete and update maintenance tasks using a CMMS or maintenance software
• Assist visiting service engineers
• Maintain facilities across all sites
• Act as the main point of contact for external contractors
• Identify improvement opportunities and potential cost‑saving initiatives
• Assist other areas of the business with maintenance support as required

Candidate Attributes

• 5–10 years’ experience in a mechanical maintenance role within a production or manufacturing environment
• Experience working with production machinery, ideally in a shift‑based or 24/7 operation
• Strong mechanical aptitude, including strip‑down and replacement of components such as bearings, conveyor belts, and other wear parts
• Experience using general workshop machinery and equipment
• Welding and fabrication skills
• A disciplined, self‑motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills, comfortable liaising with colleagues at all levels and external contractors

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
