The Role

Matara UK Limited are market leaders within the field of machining and supplying of Rolled Ball screws, Pneumatic Cylinders and Linear Actuators.

Matara do not operate as a subcontract machine shop, instead specialising on producing finished machined Ball screws from C5 & C7 stock material and producing EN8 / 316 finished piston rods for use in pneumatic cylinders. Matara also manufacture a range of Rodless Cylinders and Actuators for which various machined parts are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate automatic and manual aluminium, steel and polycarbonate saws.
  • Operate manual / semi-automatic mill and workshop lathes. On occasion simple plates will need to be manufactured / drilled on milling machines. At times joining rods may need to be machined on manual lathes.
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, drawings, specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Accomplish Matara UK Limited’s goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests whilst exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs, always completing quality checks during all stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Have the ability to use key measuring tools, Vernier’s, DRO and Micrometre’s.
  • Display an attention to detail, a “Can Do” approach and have a methodical and conscientious attitude.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and to multi-task.
  • Assembled units need to be tested and as such the AEP must follow documented assembly and test procedures.
  • At all times the AEP must ensure the cleanliness of the machines he / she uses as well as their own individual work areas and that of the assembly room and benches.

Key / Skills Qualifications

  • Has experience of assembly of mechanical components using multiple fixing methods- with standard and specialist tooling. (e.g.- Torque Wrenches, Air Tools, Battery Drills)
