Principal System Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) to provide technical leadership across defence and security programmes.

This is a key role for a professionally registered engineer with strong defence‑sector experience, excellent technical writing skills, and the ability to develop high‑quality technical solutions, bid responses, system documentation and compliance evidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical input to bids, tenders and customer opportunities.
• Develop system descriptions, technical proposals and compliance documentation.
• Provide engineering assurance and technical governance across projects.
• Support the development of defence and security solutions across a broad technology portfolio.
• Work closely with engineering, project and business development teams.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or demonstrable progress towards registration.
• Proven experience within the UK defence sector.
• Degree-qualified in an engineering or technical discipline.
• Strong technical authoring and bid‑writing experience.
• Broad engineering knowledge across systems, communications, electronics, software or related technologies.
• Experience with RF communications, EW/SIGINT, UAS or military aviation.
• Previous military experience.
• Experience working within an SME environment.
