We have an exciting opportunity for a Part time Senior Learning Disability Nurse to join our Integrated Mental Health team at HMP New Hall, a female prison and young offenders institution (YOI) in Flockton, West Yorkshire.
A fully integrated Healthcare team with a nice team environment, a really tight knit team.
Hours
25 hours a week working 2 x full days of 8:00am – 6:00pm and 1 x half day 8:00am–1:00pm, all day shifts and all between Monday – Sunday, on a rota basis. 1 weekend every 5/6 weeks covering both days 9:00–5:00pm.
This position is part-time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £49,175 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Learning Disabilities Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Respond as directed by the Mental Health Team Manager in the day to day operational functioning of the Mental Health team.
- Have responsibility for a caseload and be accountable for all aspects of delivering a nursing service for adults with learning disabilities/challenging behaviour, within the criminal justice setting.
- Work with adults whose behaviours have resulted in their offending and coming into contact with the criminal justice system.
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to undertake person‑centred specialist behavioural assessments, planning and coordination of positive non‑aversive behavioural approaches to service users.
- Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications required
- Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Substantial experience working with adults with Learning disabilities with a range of clinical presentations. Evidence of working in Learning disability health within a community or inpatient setting.
- Able to evidence examples of integrated multi-disciplinary working
- Evidence of use of a range of standardized and non-standardized behavioural assessment tools supporting clinical reasoning
- Experience of working in a mental health team – desirable
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
