The starting salary is usually at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro‑rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day you will be part of a policing family working to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm, and keep people safe. Your main responsibility is to work as part of a team processing pay for approximately 5,000 Surrey and Sussex Police officers and staff on a monthly basis. You will provide expert advice and guidance on payroll queries and ensure that all salary, allowance and expense payments comply with statutory, legislative and police regulations and terms and conditions.
Skills & Experience
- Substantial experience in a payroll environment with an understanding of principles, practices and legislation.
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing data relating to pay, pensions and employment history.
- Proven ability to handle queries from all levels, both in person and over the telephone, and build rapport with stakeholders.
- Excellent IT skills, especially with spreadsheets; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with payroll software (EPayfact for Surrey or SAP for Sussex is preferred).
- Experience in supervision and demonstrated ability to prioritise and delegate tasks.
