Base Location: You’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in Fort William, Highlands.

Salary: £54,952 – £64,738 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

We are looking for an Engineer to join our Network Integrity team in the Fort William Depot. In this role, you will respond to network faults, develop proactive engineering solutions, and work with stakeholders to improve performance and minimise outages.

You will

  • Respond promptly to network faults and defects ensuring effective resolution.
  • Influence and collaborate with internal stakeholders to maximise customer impact, improve network performance and efficiency, and minimise future outages.
  • Gather necessary data including fault history through to design and implement proactive engineering solutions.
  • Apply strong commercial awareness managing unit costs and associated contractor and supplier expenditure.
  • Proactively drive a positive safety culture, promoting safe management of work across all activities.
  • Act as a custodian of the local network, managing network risk, assessing outages, and agreeing contingency arrangements with network managers.

You have

  • A detailed knowledge and experience of our network, including an understanding of Distribution plant and equipment.
  • A Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certificate or have a clear pathway to that authorisation.
  • An HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, other relative engineering discipline or sufficient experience working within a DNO.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, with an understanding of construction management and the associated responsibilities.

This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.

A valid driving licence is essential.
