Position Overview
ROLE: Multi Skilled Engineer – Gas Engineer Bias HOURS: 4 on / 4 off shift pattern (7am -7pm), 11-hour shifts with a 1-hour break LOCATION: Toyota Manufacturing Site – Burnaston (Derby) At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day. We’re looking for a Commercial Gas Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across site. The role focuses on boilers, water heating systems, and gas-fired air heaters within a large industrial manufacturing facility. Production plant and AHU systems are maintained by the client and specialist contractors and are not part of this role. You will ensure gas systems are maintained safely and efficiently, in line with regulatory and compliance requirements. The role also includes diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing all documentation accurately. The role includes an annual salary plus a 20% shift allowance.
Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and repair commercial gas boilers and heating plant
- Carry out gas safety inspections and certification in line with regulations
- Diagnose and resolve faults on boilers, water heating systems, heating circuits, pipework, gas-fired air heaters (direct and indirect), pumps, valves, and associated systems
- Support the upkeep of a large gas asset base (approx. 50 appliances across site)
Qualifications
- Gas Safe Registered (Commercial & Domestic)
- Valid ACS qualifications (e.g. COCN1 or equivalent)
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a commercial gas environment
- Experience working on commercial boilers and heating systems
- Experience in FM or industrial environments, with understanding of compliance and gas safety documentation
