Interim M&A Counsel (Post-Deal Integration) | Global Packaging Tech | Europe

MLA is supporting an innovative, high-growth global packaging technology business looking to engage an experienced M&A lawyer to support on a live European acquisition and integration project.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the post-deal phase of a strategic acquisition in Italy, working closely with senior leadership in a commercially driven environment.

The Role

You’ll support the business through the final stages of deal execution and post-acquisition integration, following the purchase of a business based in Northern Italy.

Key areas will include:

  • Post-deal integration support, ensuring smooth transition into the wider group
  • Advising on corporate, governance and structural matters arising from the transaction
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to embed the acquired business operationally and legally
  • Supporting on cross-border M&A-related issues across European jurisdictions
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to senior business stakeholders during a critical growth phase

This is a hands-on, highly commercial role suited to someone comfortable operating autonomously in a dynamic, international environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Senior corporate lawyer with 10–20 years’ PQE
  • Strong private M&A experience from a leading law firm
  • Qualified in UK, US or Italy
  • Experience supporting cross-border transactions and post-deal integration
  • Italian language skills are required
  • Likely operating in an independent / fractional capacity

Logistics & Timeline

  • Start: Flexible – initial ramp-up from June/July
  • Peak period: September–October (deal close targeted for end October 2026)
  • Duration: Through to November/December (integration phase)
  • Location: Flexible – London, Amsterdam, or Italy, with travel between as needed
  • Working pattern: Fluid (initial hourly basis, moving to more structured support during peak period)
