SAP Consultant (Configuration) – Finance / Commercial & Systems (SAP Team)

Location: Coventry

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: £58,000 – £63,000 per annum (Inclusive of Additional Market Supplement)

Benefits: Excellent Pension + 42 days holidays (including Bank Holiday)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Flexible – 1 to 2 days in office

About the Role

We are seeking an SAP specialist to join a busy SAP Finance Systems Team, acting as an expert SAP Functional and Business Specialist. You will lead the analysis, documentation, recommendation and configuration of solutions and development needs predominantly in your functional expertise, supporting new and existing processes. You will take ownership from requirements gathering to configuration, UAT and delivery to production, while giving feedback on project progress within an agile framework.

You will also collaborate with other functional and technical experts and stakeholders, translating outcomes into language senior stakeholders can interpret, ensuring a holistic and successful delivery.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, flexible, customer-focused individual who enjoys working with the latest SAP and Finance software, understands user needs and resolves issues in a friendly environment. You should be willing to share knowledge, develop team members, and work in a small agile hybrid team.

Experience and Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of SAP or a similar ERP system as an expert user or in providing support to users.
  • Extensive business experience in a large and diverse organisation.
  • Extensive experience of SAP configuration, preferably gained during initial implementation of a new system and at least one project cycle. (Essential)
  • In‑depth and up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant SAP FI modules and functional areas. (Essential)
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly for explaining IT concepts to non‑IT staff across all levels of the University.
  • Good understanding of business and systems analysis, and project management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to understand the needs of users in the Finance Office and departments and relate them to the capabilities of SAP and other financial systems in use.
  • Knowledge and experience of financial processes in large organisations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Preferably hold certification for various SAP modules.
  • Project management qualifications, such as PRINCE2.
