Candour Talent are recruiting a Senior Quality Control Technician to join their client’s team in Port Talbot.

  • Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent
  • Working Hours: Panama 12hr shifts
  • Salary: £40-45k

Our client is looking for a reliable and process-driven Senior Quality Control Technician to join their well-established manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Port Talbot.

The successful candidate will be tasked with inspecting goods during the production process and ensuring that the finished product meets customers’ needs and expectations. It will require collaboration with various internal teams to identify non-conforming product in production, quarantining defective stock efficiently to minimise waste, and following up corrective actions.

The Role:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and BRC Standards via internal audits, inspections, and adherence to quality standards
  • Carry out inspections of production lines to check quality against established specifications and standards
  • Carry out dimensional and visual checks of finished product using gauging equipment and documenting results
  • Report any quality concerns, informing key team members to assist in the implementation of appropriate corrective actions and follow up to ensure close out
  • Quarantine any defective product that does not meet specification, establish a point of origin, and back check stock
  • Ensure online gauging equipment is within correct calibration and applicable colour standards are present at the start of each production run
  • Support in monitoring of new product launches ensuring correct specifications and finish against target standards
  • Monitor production start-ups following line stoppages
  • Maintain controls and documentation procedures
  • Support in re-work of non-conforming material
  • Support with the reduction of waste
  • Set and monitor line vision systems (cameras) and support with optimising camera parameters to achieve best output whilst managing waste levels and preventing defects from passing into finished stock
  • Assist in training staff on quality control procedures, techniques, and best practices

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a Quality Control, Quality Inspection, or Quality Assurance role – Essential
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment – Essential
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and reporting skills with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and make decisions effectively based on data collection
  • ISO 9001 & BRC Standards experience – desirable
  • Internal and External auditing experience – desirable
  • Experience with 5S methodologies and process improvement tools – desirable
