Job Description:

At Catesby Projects we support customer programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive, and elite sport. From concept phase to final design, working at Catesby Projects will be varied and challenging as we push engineering boundaries across multiple sectors.

We are looking for an engineer to help support our consultancy services. This will assist our design team in a role combining mechanical design with various other aspects of the business including 3D scanning, 3D printing, aerodynamic design and project management. The role will involve design work on a range of Motorsport, Automotive and Elite Sport applications both on and offsite. The role could also involve scan processing, reverse engineering and 3D printing depending upon the projects within the company.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting mechanical design on a range of applications including Olympic sports equipment and development of some of our products.
  • Supporting 3D scanning services as required for our customers on a wide range of applications using a range of different tools, depending upon the application.
  • Scan processing and reverse engineering in a CAD environment.
  • Working with range of manufacturers/suppliers to optimise and refine products.
  • Working with our customers to determine and ensure we meet their requirements.
  • Mechanical design of parts ready for manufacture including utilising our own 3D printers.
  • Some (but not excessive) travel may be required for this role, depending upon the requirements of our customers.
  • Depending upon experience and desire, involvement with aerodynamic surfacing could also form part of your responsibilities.

You:

An engineering graduate with industry experience and a passion for a variety of disciplines including motorsport, automotive and elite sport.

You will understand and be knowledgeable about mechanical design and design for manufacture. FEA experience would be an advantage.

Experience in a high-performance environment and sporting R&D would be advantageous.

Experience with composites and advanced manufacturing techniques would be desirable.

An interest in cycling would be advantageous but not essential.

You will want to work on a variety of applications in a small but growing team. A hands‑on approach and desire to ‘get stuck in’ is essential.

A fine attention to detail and the ability to problem solve is essential.

2-10 years industry experience required.
