Job Overview
We are an employee‑owned supported living organisation who specialise in providing bespoke packages of support to people with learning disabilities and complex needs who wish to live in the community in their own home. We support adults & young people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, support with and positively respond to people’s behaviours.
We are looking to recruit a Support Worker (30 hours per week) to work in Lemington, Newcastle upon Tyne in the North‑East, UK. This role will involve weekends, evenings & nights – £14.22 per hour & £101.68 for sleep‑ins, average annual salary of £25,843+ (based on 30 hours per week).
Responsibilities
- Support a young gentleman with autism & a learning disability, enabling him to live an enriched life within his own home in the community.
- Assist with daily living activities, including toileting, meal preparation, personal care and medication monitoring.
- Drive the mobility car of the supported person and accompany him on regular drives and visits to different venues within the North‑East.
- Respond positively to the supported person’s behaviours and maintain a calm, supportive environment.
- Encourage and facilitate social interaction and participation in community activities.
Requirements
- Full UK manual driving licence (no Disabilities, no Restrictions).
- Empathy, natural ability to form positive relationships, caring, understanding and imaginative.
- Willingness to go the extra mile and learn.
- Committed to the rights of the people we support.
- Enhanced DBS check (subject to role).
- Unable to offer visa sponsorship.
Hours and Pay
30 hours per week. Shift patterns include weekends, evenings and nights. Base pay £14.22 per hour, £101.68 for sleep‑ins, £10 enhancement on waking nights. Average annual salary of £25,843+ (based on 30 hours per week).
