BCCR Control Room Operator Apprentice
Job Description
You will be supported to achieve a Business Administration Level 3 apprenticeship at Newbury College while working within the Baggage Combined Control Room (BCCR) at London Heathrow Airport. Upon completion of your qualification, you will proceed to become a Control Room Operator. In the role you will ensure that every bag and every passenger is safely handled on time.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of awareness of safety and wellbeing, demonstrating personal qualities and leading by example.
- Monitor the baggage systems via bespoke computer‑controlled systems, configure routes, input operational data and react to changing system conditions.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external colleagues, establish the duration of baggage equipment faults and convey information to the relevant parties.
- Proactively identify bags at risk, carry out tag traces, and compile daily reports on the analysis.
- Deliver training and familiarisation for new staff members and share knowledge.
- Develop knowledge of contingency processes, criticality of baggage equipment and support the BCCR team during any baggage related incidents.
- Allocate arrival flights proactively.
- Analyse data to identify improvement areas in processes and system performance.
- Develop knowledge of the controls of the baggage process, requirements of the airport and airline operations.
