Job Description:

Are you a passionate Catering Supervisor or a Kitchen Assistant looking for a progression opportunity? If so, this role is for you and we’d love you to join our fantastic team based in schools across Cheshire West and Chester, Wirral, Halton, and Flintshire.

As a Catering Supervisor you will support the catering operations at Cathcart Street Primary School, representing both Edsential and the school to ensure pupils receive high‑quality food and an excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present food to a high standard of hygiene and safe practice.
  • Manage allergen procedures and dietary requirements.
  • Complete all kitchen administration, including health and safety checks and allergen management.
  • Maintain accurate records and meet kitchen targets such as stock control, food ordering, and quality assurance.
  • Foster relationships with school staff (teachers, business managers, and head teachers).
  • Supervise kitchen staff: process timesheets, manage absences, conduct probation meetings, and uphold safeguarding standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other Edsential units as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience running a school kitchen is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and team‑empowering skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and promote a positive work environment.
  • Lead‑by‑example attitude.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a busy, customer‑facing role.
  • Comfortable working with IT systems (training will be provided).
