Position Details

  • Location: Martin House & Hatfield Road, St Albans
  • Hours: Part‑time (32.5 hours per week)
  • Salary: £23,271 per annum

Role Overview

Join our dedicated homelessness team supporting adults with complex needs to regain stability, build independence and move towards their own accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Take day‑to‑day responsibility for the running of the service at Hatfield Road (5 beds).
  • Support residents with daily routines, life skills and personal goals.
  • Respond calmly to challenging situations and maintain clear boundaries.
  • Keep the building safe through checks, repairs reporting and maintaining shared spaces.
  • Complete accurate case notes, risk assessments and other documentation.
  • Spend time at Martin House (16 beds) for safety checks and occasional support, working collaboratively with the wider team.
  • Work lone when required; confidence and good decision‑making are essential.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Resilient, proactive and calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Organised, IT‑confident and committed to compassionate, person‑centred support.
  • Experience is helpful but not essential; strong life experience and the right attitude matter most.

Shifts

  • 3‑week rolling rota including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Early shifts: 7:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • Late shifts: 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
  • Weekend working: one weekend in every three (10:00 am – 6:00 pm).
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required (business insurance needed if appointed).
