About the role

We are seeking a Head of Operations & Development to play a key leadership role at an important stage in Gazebo’s development.

This is a senior, hands‑on role combining operational leadership with responsibility for income generation through funding applications, grants, and tenders. You will play a central role in ensuring the organisation runs effectively while supporting our future sustainability and growth.

You will work closely with the CEO & Artistic Director to ensure we have the systems, structure, and resources required to deliver our work.

A key priority in this role will be strengthening income generation through successful funding applications and tenders.

About Gazebo

Gazebo is a diverse arts organisation based in Wolverhampton and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

For over 45 years, we have delivered creative programmes, performances, and activities that support children, young people, and communities. Our work promotes social, educational, and artistic development, building skills, confidence, and creativity through a wide‑ranging programme of Theatre in Education, community arts, and creative training.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the organisation
  • Develop and improve organisational systems and processes
  • Lead on funding applications, bids, and tenders
  • Identify and develop new income streams and partnerships
  • Oversee financial processes and performance (with support)
  • Support governance, compliance, and reporting
  • Line manage administrative and support staff

About you

We are looking for an experienced and capable leader who:

  • Has a strong background in operational or organisational management
  • Has experience writing successful funding applications, bids, or tenders
  • Is confident working across a broad range of responsibilities
  • Is proactive, organised, and able to take ownership and deliver
  • Is approachable and able to build strong working relationships

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the arts, cultural, or voluntary and community sector. However, we also welcome applications from those with transferable skills from other sectors.

Salary & details

Wolverhampton

32 hours per week (4 days)

£40,000–£44,000 FTE (actual £34,595–£38,050), depending on experience

Permanent contract
