Maintenance Assistant – Recruitment at Sheridan School
We are recruiting a Maintenance Assistant to join our maintenance team. The role involves carrying out reactive day‑to‑day maintenance within the school site and grounds, supporting other homes in the community, liaising with contractors, and responding to ad‑hoc requests from management.
This is a 52‑week contract during the school holidays.
Responsibilities
- Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance tasks on site and grounds.
- Assist other homes in the community.
- Coordinate with contractors when on site.
- Respond to ad‑hoc requests from management.
- Supervise the staff team, maintain records and log issues on internal computer systems, and conduct routine maintenance checks.
Qualifications & Characteristics
- Experience in general labouring skills and handyperson work.
- Strong communication skills when interacting with young people who may display varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD, etc.
- Organised and confident in record keeping and routine maintenance checks.
- Attentive and able to understand and support diverse job requirements.

Additional Information
Sheridan School offers an integrated programme of education and therapy for young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, including Autism. Age range is from year 4 to year 11.
