The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to support a Women & Children’s Service in the South West.
This opportunity offers a long-term locum contract with a mix of 24-hour on-calls, outpatient clinics, and theatre sessions, providing structured and consistent work within a busy acute hospital environment. It is well suited to candidates with extensive experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology who are confident managing both obstetric and gynaecological cases while working within established multidisciplinary teams.
You will be working alongside experienced clinical teams, supporting consultant-led services and contributing to the delivery of safe, effective patient care across the department.

- Shift Pattern: Mix of 24-hour on-calls (including 12-hour on-site cover), outpatient clinics, and theatre sessions
- Pay Method: PAYE
- Additional Notes: Immediate start available. On-call, clinic, and theatre commitments will be allocated based on service requirements and candidate experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver consultant-led Obstetrics & Gynaecology services across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Participate in on-call rotas, including 24-hour on-call commitments
- Conduct outpatient clinics and patient reviews
- Undertake theatre sessions appropriate to experience and service requirements
- Support day-to-day clinical operations and service delivery within the department
- Work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards
- Identify and elevate clinical concerns appropriately
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, effective, and well-functioning clinical environment
What We’re Looking For
- Active GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Specialist Register entry (or eligibility) in Obstetrics & GynaecologyRelevant recent UK experience working at Consultant level within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Experience participating in consultant on-call rotasAbility to work both independently and as part of an established multidisciplinary team
- Strong clinical judgement, communication, and professionalism
- Experience delivering outpatient, inpatient, and theatre-based care
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
