Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Pre‑op Assessment Team (POAC) at Wrexham Maelor Hospital as a Receptionist/Administrator. The role requires a flexible, positive, customer‑focused individual with strong communication, organisational and confidential handling skills. The post holder will provide effective administrative support to the clinical team.

Main duties of the job

Provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Pre‑Op Department within a multi‑disciplinary team, ensuring an effective service and maximising patient satisfaction. Resolve patient queries promptly, exercising own judgement within professional constraints and maintaining strict confidentiality with staff, patients, carers and relatives.

Language requirement

Welsh speaking is essential for this post; English speakers are also welcome.

Qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate English and Mathematics to GCSE or equivalent level
  • NVQ Level 3 in Customer Care or equivalent qualification or experience
  • AMSPAR Diploma in Medical Reception Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Welsh speaking skills

Experience

  • Previous clerical/office/reception experience
  • Customer Service experience

Desirable Experience

  • Previous NHS experience

Aptitude & Abilities

  • Proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel and TEAMS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep pace in a fast‑moving, highly demanding environment
  • Proficient use of electronic information systems
  • Accurate keyboard skills, able to record information accurately
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Clear and sensitive communication in person and over telephone

Desirable Aptitude & Abilities

  • Familiarity with hospital systems such as Symphony / WPAS
  • Experience handling confidential information and communication
