Apply for the Senior Vice President, Product Management, UK and Europe Domestic Payments
Location: London
Job Description:

Team/Role Overview

As a member of Citi’s Payments Product team you will be based in the Cluster UK and Europe Domestic Payments team, strategically managing and driving Citi’s payment business in the UK and Europe markets. You will act as the “CEO” of your product portfolio, owning the full strategy, advanced product development, risk and controls, and commercial growth while maintaining alignment with regulatory requirements and delivering superior financial performance. This is a strategic product management role focused on visionary market strategy, end‑to‑end business ownership, and significant P&L impact – beyond a tactical product owner role.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and execute a strategic vision and long‑term roadmap for key payment solutions across the UK and Europe, ensuring alignment with global payments strategy and market opportunities.
  • Take full accountability for P&L growth of your product portfolio, identifying market shifts and leading the creation and commercialization of winning client solutions from conception to market dominance.
  • Provide decisive leadership to assess, define requirements, and oversee the successful, compliant implementation of critical regulatory mandates and strategic initiatives across payment solutions.
  • Develop a deep, strategic understanding of payments application architecture and how to evolve it to optimally support payment flows and deliver a best‑in‑class end‑to‑end client experience.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, product innovation, end‑to‑end project execution, and ensure successful market adoption of next‑generation payment capabilities.
  • Critically contribute to and shape the overarching strategy of domestic payments in the UK and Europe, collaborating with country, sub‑cluster, and global teams to continuously enhance the client proposition.
  • Expertly assess and manage risk with a “CEO” mindset, pre‑empting and mitigating potential systemic risks and escalating or reporting issues promptly.
  • Champion and lead high‑impact AI‑related initiatives within the payments product space, identifying opportunities for competitive advantage and operational efficiency.

What We’ll Need From You

  • Extensive demonstrated experience in product management and strategic leadership within the payments landscape.
  • Proven track record as a payments product leader with end‑to‑end P&L responsibility, market strategy definition, and influence over large‑scale initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership and executive communication skills to inspire, influence, and align senior stakeholders across a complex global organisation.
  • Deep strategic understanding of payment processing, ISO 20022, regulatory frameworks, data flows, and emerging payment technologies and market trends.
  • Experience in defining, developing, and launching complex, market‑leading payment solutions.
  • Mastery of business case development and the ability to present compelling strategic proposals to senior leadership.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills, applying ingenuity and creativity to resolve complex, novel, and ambiguous situations.
  • Advanced risk management acumen: a strategic mindset for assessing, documenting, and managing business and regulatory risk within a dynamic product environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross‑functional collaboration at a senior level, fostering shared ownership and excellence.
  • Experience with AI initiatives and their strategic application in payments (highly desirable).
