About the role

We are currently supporting a secondary school in the Wigan area who are seeking a full-time Technician to join their Design and Technology department. The role is set to begin as soon as possible and continue for 3 months with the possibility of becoming longer-term for the right candidate.

As a technician, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning within the design and technology department. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on, highly organised and passionate individual to contribute to the delivery of high-quality design technology education across the whole school. Experience of working within a school setting is essential for this position.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing materials, tools and equipment for lessons
  • Maintenance of tools and machinery, ensuring they are safe and fit for purpose
  • Supporting practical lessons where needed
  • Comply with health and safety regulations at all times
  • Managing stock levels and ordering appropriate resources

Essential requirements

  • Experience working in a school DT environment
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience working within a UK Secondary School setting
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Pro-active and flexible approach with a professional attitude
  • Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
