Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Lancashire and greater Manchester area for a Multi-Discipline Fire and Security Installation Engineer. The role involves installing, commissioning, and maintaining a range of fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control and related life safety and security systems in line with industry standards and company procedures. The engineer will carry out site surveys, fault-finding, diagnostics, remedial works and installations ensuring systems are safe, compliant, and fully operational. Responsibilities include completing accurate documentation, test certificates, and reports, as well as providing clear updates to clients and internal teams. The role also includes participation in on-call or rota-based support where required, proactive identification of improvement opportunities on client sites, and adherence to all health, safety, and data protection requirements.
Qualifications
Strong equipment installation skills, including hands‑on experience installing Fire alarm and Security systems.
Practical electrical engineering knowledge, with understanding of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., BS7671) for low‑voltage and extra‑low‑voltage systems.
Experience in maintenance activities, including planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and system testing for fire and security equipment.
Competence in electrical wiring, cable routing, terminations, and fault diagnosis on control panels and field devices.
Familiarity with fire and security standards and codes of practice (e.g. BS5839, BS EN standards), and willingness to keep skills current through training.
Relevant technical qualification fire and security engineering (e.g., Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, equivalent experience).
