About The Role
Permanent, Full Time. Salary £38,487 to £51,834 per annum. Location: Clacton on Sea. Working Style: Community‑based worker. Closing Date: 12th April 2026.
We are looking for motivated social workers, passionate about making a difference for children and their families, to join our Family Support and Protection (FS&P) team. FS&P social workers build positive relationships with families using systemic, strengths‑based social work approaches, working on Child in Need & Child Protection plans.
Responsibilities
Family Support & Protection teams handle Public Law Outline, Court work including S.7 reports, proceedings (including Special Guardianship Order assessments). The role includes reflective supervision, access to CPD/Training, and creative, innovative support for families.
Qualifications & Experience
- A recognised social work qualification (Diploma, degree or Masters) and current registration with Social Work England.
- Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to relevant competency frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.
- Experience in a social work setting with challenging social and family situations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to develop rapport and engage with diverse groups.
- Ability to build strong relationships with partners, other agencies and the local community to achieve shared objectives.
- Understanding of value‑for‑money interventions balanced against need.
- Evidence of clear decision‑making highlighting and limiting potential risks associated with intervention.
Skills & Requirements
The role requires a mobile driver’s licence and the ability to travel across Essex and beyond. A DBS check is required; a DBS update service subscription will be required if applicable.
