Software Engineer

Overview

Roche seeks a Data and Digital Catalyst to modernise and connect scientific and data ecosystems across Research and Early Development, building robust scientific software solutions, data flows, and pipelines across key domains including Research Biology, Drug Discovery, and Translational Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical excellence by building robust scientific software solutions, data flows, and pipelines across key domains including Research Biology, Drug Discovery, and Translational Medicine.
• Innovate with impact by applying Open Source, Cloud‑First, API‑First, and AI‑First methodologies to complex problem‑solving.
• Drive continuous growth by sharpening your software engineering skills and building scalable data ecosystems using microservices, event‑driven design, and layered architecture.
• Collaborate across disciplines by working closely with scientists, Data Engineers, Product Leaders, and Tech/ML Ops to ensure seamless interoperability and system integration.
• Enable advanced analytics by integrating diverse datasets to power AI/ML use cases, search functionality, and data visualization.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with experience in software engineering.
• Full‑stack development experience – front‑end and/or back‑end.
• Exposure to databases, APIs, and cloud‑native architectures.
• A track record of designing reliable, scalable, performant and secure data applications.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for technical and product excellence.
• Preferred domain knowledge in biology, chemistry, drug discovery or translational medicine.
• Experience with AI/ML integration and model deployment.
• Passion for building usable products that support the needs of the users.
