Grace Dental – Skinnergate Practice are seeking a hardworking Dental Nurse to join their team. As an apprentice dental nurse, you will help out around the surgery cleaning instruments and customer care alongside some administrative duties. You will be supporting patients, maintaining patient records and preparing equipment for dental surgery.
What you’ll do at work
- Setting up and closing down the surgery
- Decontamination of instruments
- Ensuring all relevant materials and supplies are in place
- Preparing instruments for procedures
- Maintaining impeccable hygiene and cross‑infection control standards (according to guidelines)
- Following all practice protocols and procedures

Training
- Identify relevant and appropriate dental, oral, craniofacial, and general anatomy.
- Evaluate the health risks of drug use on oral and general health.
- Apply the scientific principles underpinning materials and biomaterials used in dentistry.
- Identify signs of abuse, neglect, and emotional trauma.
- Assist with orthodontic assessment and obtain valid consent.
- Record accurate patient history, dental charting, and oral health assessment.
- Prepare records, images, equipment, and materials for clinical assessment.
- Manage patient anxiety and provide behavioural support.
- Support the operator with chairside care and manage dental materials.
- Implement and manage infection control procedures according to current guidelines.
- Provide personalized preventative advice and support patients with acute oral conditions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, the public, and colleagues.
- Maintain up‑to‑date, accurate, and complete patient records.
- Act in accordance with best practice, legal frameworks, and professional ethics.
- Participate in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Requirements
- GCSE in Maths and English (grade C/4 or above)
- Relevant qualifications or industry experience (optional)
