Ready to impact a better future? As a Recovery Support Worker in our Justice and Immigration team, you’ll help people address harmful substance use and take steps towards a healthier, safer future. Your work will touch lives directly by supporting individuals on their recovery journey and helping them reintegrate into their communities with confidence.

Day to day, you’ll make a meaningful and positive impact by guiding people through tailored interventions, strengthening partnerships across the prison and wider services, and contributing to long-term change that supports safer outcomes for individuals and society.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal and external partners to provide needs-led, recovery-focused support that continues beyond release, helping deliver long-term change.
  • Support prisoners to address their drug and alcohol use, helping improve health outcomes, wellbeing and quality of life.
  • Provide advice, information and appropriate referrals into commissioned substance misuse services, ensuring clear and accurate communication pathways.
  • Deliver tailored psychosocial interventions and harm-minimisation strategies depending on individual need.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, healthcare, Probation and other relevant agencies.
  • Collate and maintain accurate data and records to support monitoring, evaluation and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals affected by alcohol or substance use, or experience in a comparable support setting.
  • Experience delivering one-to-one and/or group interventions.
  • Experience working within the Criminal Justice System.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and person-centred planning.

Vetting and checks: An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. Location and Benefits

Location: HMP Dovegate, Staffordshire, ST14 8XR

Salary: £28,074 – £29,710 per annum, dependant on experience plus excellent benefits

Schedule: 40 hours per week, permanent
