Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Would you like to make a real difference in a specialist environment? Milk Education is partnering with this SEND provision to recruit an Autism Support Worker to join their dedicated team.

About the school…

It is a purpose-built SEND school serving children aged 2 to 19. Their students often have complex and multiple learning disabilities, speech, language & communication needs, and physical or sensory requirements.

Role: Autism Support Worker

In this role, you will work closely with the Class Teacher and the wider team to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and day‑to‑day needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all school policies and procedures
  • Assist with feeding, personal care, and hygiene support as required
  • Support the Class Teacher in delivering lessons — adapt tasks, maintain pupil engagement, scaffold learning
  • Support behaviour management in line with school approaches
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, enabling them to express themselves
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing

Essential Criteria (Non‑Negotiables)

  • Recent, relevant experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities — in educational or care settings
  • Comfortable providing personal care (e.g. feeding, hygiene)
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent under pressure
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • A caring, flexible and resilient approach
