You will assist the team in all aspects of food service, including preparing and serving food, hospitality support, baking, operating cashless till systems, and cleaning equipment as required. Duties include making sandwiches, light food preparation and baking tasks, washing pots and kitchen equipment, and supporting stock management. You will be expected to use your initiative to complete tasks efficiently and support the smooth running of the catering service. With an excellent eye for detail and high health and safety standards, you will ensure all food is handled in accordance with the standards set by our Food Safety & Quality Management System. Alongside this, you will be responsible for delivering and maintaining excellent stock control practices and carrying out and recording any checks required on behalf of the Chef Manager.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Prepare and serve meals, snacks, baked goods, and drinks to customers.
- Support hospitality services, including the preparation and delivery of food for meetings and events.
- Carry out basic baking and food preparation duties as required.
- Operate cashless till systems and take payments accurately.
- Maintain high standards of customer service at all times.
- Wash pots, utensils, crockery, and kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.
- Clean all equipment, crockery, and cutlery as required.
- Support, operate, and provide service in areas including but not limited to serveries, retail outlets, and hospitality functions.
- Ensure all food is handled in accordance with the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant Health & Safety legislation and Codes of Practice.
- Assist with stock control, storage, and rotation of raw materials and packaging.
- Carry out and record food safety and compliance checks as required.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training, which may include off‑site and occasional overnight travel.
- Ensure all materials are stored correctly within designated areas of the site.

Qualifications
- Customer care and customer service experience, preferably in a catering or hospitality environment.
- Confidence in communicating positively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Experience or willingness to learn food preparation, baking, and hospitality service.
- Ability to operate and understand EPOS and cashless till systems (cash handling knowledge beneficial).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt to changing demands.
- Ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks, and remain productive during quieter periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Food Safety Level 2 Certificate (required or willingness to achieve within probation period).
- Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety awareness.
- Allergen awareness training.
- Level 1/2 qualification in Catering, Hospitality, or Food Preparation.
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- Relevant on‑the‑job training or experience in a catering or hospitality environment.
- Basic IT skills to operate EPOS/cashless till systems.
