Specialist Cleaning OperativeSalary: B1 £25,185 – £25,989Hours: 37 hoursContract: NJC Local Government ServicesLocation: Mobile Leeds City Council District.
Job Purpose
To provide various services in an efficient and effective manner for a multi-client base as directed by the Service Manager.
Responsibilities
- Carry out cleaning tasks on council buildings, property and assets including void. Work includes deep cleaning of vulnerable properties and housing stock.
- Carry out cleaning of hazardous substances and work of unpleasant nature (pigeon guano, human faeces, blood, fleas, stagnant water).
- Clear items of a hazardous nature (needles, waste, emptying of buildings, animals).
- Work across various duties such as gardening, removal work, cleaning, clearing and refuse loading in the Leeds area or wider districts.
- Communicate with the client officer or customer.
- Carry out general duties of a basic trade, such as painting and decorating, installing notice boards, and building furniture (handyman duties).
- Use or drive up to a 7.5‑ton vehicle (tipper/box wagon).
- Maintain external areas and land such as Children Centres grounds or council land, including housing stock and void. Duties include clearing leaves and moss from paths.
- Conduct pre‑start vehicle checks and report defects.
- Adhere to Health and Safety regulations and council policies on safe working practice and correct use of PPE.
- Carry out a working risk assessment before work starts.
- Complete effective paperwork (HAVs reporting, job sheets, method statements, dynamic risk assessments on site).
- Work as part of a team, act on instruction from senior staff.
- Attend training courses, meetings, and communication events as requested.
- Complete machine training (Stihl) for gardening.
- Complete training at heights, scaffold, and ladder.
- Wear and keep clean all PPE and corporate uniform, including safe storage of PPE within provided kit bags.
Qualifications
- Hold BICS Level 1 and 2 Certificate.
