Job Overview
The Clinical immunology department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS trust is looking to recruit a Biomedical Support Worker (AfC Band 2) to join our friendly busy team. We would welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals who are able to work independently but crucially as part of a team to ensure we deliver a comprehensive service.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, deliver, receive and assist in the processing of clinical diagnostic specimens for biological testing.
- Undertake routine clinical technical investigations, operating complex equipment following standard operating procedures under supervision.
- Enter and retrieve patient demographic details using the laboratory information system.
- Work as a member of the departmental team, communicating effectively with colleagues and other healthcare staff.
Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
- Study to A level in sciences or equivalent qualifications.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Team player.
- Independent worker.
- Desire to learn new skills.
- Previous laboratory experience desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in Laboratory LIMS such as WINPATH an advantage.
- Knowledge of conventional IT software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
