Summary

This is a long term career opportunity to train as an Accountant in a successful recruitment agency. This is a busy environment in face to face customer care. If you want to be challenged and learn new skills then this is a role for you.

We are looking for a candidate with bookkeeping experience and a level 2 qualification. If the right person has this, we will offer the level 3 apprenticeship.

Wage

Hours and Schedule

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hours a week).Start date: Saturday 1 August 2026.Duration: 1 year 6 months.Positions available: 1.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Prepare and monitor budgets: Contribute to preparation and monitoring of the companies’ budgets.
  • Manage financial records: Support monitoring and control of financial records and key reconciliations.
  • Assist with financial statements: Contribute to the preparation of the companies annual statements of accounts.
  • Handle queries: Answer queries from colleagues.
  • Use spreadsheets and accounting software.
  • Match purchase invoices to purchase orders.
  • Process purchase orders.
  • Maintain accounts and resolve supplier queries.
  • Assist with general administrative and financial duties of the accounting team.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You will study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Professional accounting technician (Level 4).

What you’ll learn

  • Collate and analyse financial information to support value creation within an organisation.
  • Apply accounting principles and adhere to legislation to ensure records are accurate and compliant with law or company policy when delivering accounting activities.
  • Apply professional scepticism to inform and evaluate decision making on the content of true and fair accounts, being alert to potential misstatement due to error or fraud.
  • Interpret financial information and use judgement to determine correct reporting or accounting methods, including ratio analysis.
  • Support quality improvement activities, such as improving personal working practices.
  • Use software packages to assist with accounting tasks, complying with cyber and data security requirements, and backing up data safely.
  • Deliver accounting tasks with a critical eye to transactions and trends, demonstrating a ‘right first time’ approach.
  • Manage workload, plan, organise and prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Use accounting information to add value through data visualisations, analysis and interpretation, communicating information for non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Communicate accounting information through various media to help stakeholders understand requirements, considering risks and benefits.
  • Build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with stakeholders, recognising equality, diversity and inclusion.

Training schedule

The successful candidate will work towards achieving their AAT Level 3. A dedicated work‑based trainer will be assigned to provide support and guidance. Learning will take place one day per week from the Lichfield campus.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE Maths (grade 4‑9 or A*‑C).
  • GCSE English (grade 4‑9 or A*‑C).

Share any other relevant qualifications or industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
