Job Title

Cancer Genomics Lead Nurse (fixed‑term contract).

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the cancer genomics specialist service, ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based, cost‑effective care.
  • Educate and develop the CNS workforce to increase genomics knowledge and skills across tumour sites.
  • Provide autonomous expert nursing care with specialist advanced skills.
  • Deliver evidence‑based personalised patient care according to changing health‑care needs.
  • Seek collaborative relationships with others across and within professional boundaries.
  • Review and develop services and patient pathways, ensuring high levels of care, experience, and satisfaction.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and Cancer Management Team to embed genomics across tumour sites and comply with national safety and quality standards.
  • Lead on research and audit within cancer genomics.
  • Act as a visible role model throughout the trust and externally.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (suitable registration).
  • Recognised teaching or mentorship qualification.
  • Post‑registration qualification relevant to specialty.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Advanced Assessment Course or willingness to undertake.
  • Independent Nurse Prescribing course or willingness to undertake.
  • Advanced Communication skills training.
  • Level 2 Psychological skills training.

Experience

  • Substantial post‑registration experience in oncology.
  • Evidence of teaching and development of teaching materials.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical practice.
  • Knowledge of current advances and pathways of care relevant to specialty.
  • Proven evidence of service development and improvement of patient experience.
  • Experience of multi‑professional working.
  • Experience of undertaking nurse‑led clinics.
  • Experience of undertaking research and audit.
  • Previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist or advanced clinical practitioner.
