Trust Doctor (FY2) In Stroke & Rehabilitation

Stroke & Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine at Chapel Allerton Hospital. We are inviting applications to fill our Trust Grade (FY2 level) vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Stroke & Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine at Chapel Allerton Hospital. This post will commence ideally on the 5th August 2026 and is fixed term for 12 months. Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a licence to practice by the intended start date.

Main duties of the job

This appointment is for a Trust Grade Doctor in Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine. The role involves working on the stroke rehabilitation unit at ward C6 in Chapel Allerton Hospital, participating in ward rounds and reviewing patients undergoing stroke rehab. There will be no on-call component. The doctor will also participate in teaching and training, contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement work. Self‑directed training time is included in the rota, and the doctor will be invited to join the education programme within the department.

Job responsibilities

The post involves working with the rehabilitation ward as part of the multidisciplinary team and provides experience in both stroke and rehabilitation medicine, as well as general and elderly medicine. The doctor will be invited to join the education programme within the stroke medicine department.

Qualifications and experience

  • Completed a minimum of Foundation year 2.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice in the UK.
  • At least 12 months experience in the NHS (no supernumerary period supported).
  • Prior experience working in a stroke or neurology department.
  • Valid Advanced Life Support qualifications, current and not expired.
