About the Role

A proactive and detail-oriented Licensing Officer within Trafford’s Regulatory Services, based at Trafford Town Hall. The postholder processes applications for licences, permits, and registrations, ensuring all submissions are handled accurately in line with legislative requirements and council procedures. Key responsibilities include collecting, receipting, and banking of fees, maintaining accurate records, responding promptly to enquiries and complaints, collating and analysing data to support service delivery, preparing committee reports, and attending Licensing Committee when required. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Regulatory Services and external partner agencies, the role contributes to effective cross-team working and the continuous improvement of the service.

About You

  • 5 GCSEs grades A-C, including English and Mathematics (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) or proven experience in a relevant regulatory services role.
  • Commitment to continuing personal and professional development.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to construct clear, concise letters and reports, making full use of available technology.
  • Planning and organisational skills: prioritise and manage a busy workload, producing accurate work within deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, sometimes without supervision but within broad guidelines.
  • Solution-focused and able to work well under pressure, including in situations with potential verbal aggression.
  • Developed interpersonal skills including negotiating and persuading.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
