Employee Relations Consultant
Location: Leicester or Bexhill (hybrid)
Role Overview
As an Employee Relations Consultant, you will work closely with leaders to support and coach them on colleague issues, manage risk, drive consistency, and enable effective organisational change. You will operate autonomously in a fast‑moving environment, aligning with a specific business area and contributing to both commercial objectives and people strategy.
Job Details
- Partner with business leaders to deliver agreed commercial and people outcomes through coaching, employee relations expertise, and change initiatives.
- Proactively work with leaders to identify and resolve issues early across core areas.
- Coach leaders to apply policies and processes to support consistent and fair decision‑making.
- Manage employee relations casework end‑to‑end, advising leaders on best practices for fair outcomes.
- Identify trends from casework and provide insights to leadership on risk and improvement areas.
- Overall management of complex employee relations matters in a highly regulated, fast‑paced environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience within Employee Relations in a highly regulated environment (e.g., insurance, financial services).
- Experience supporting organisations through change, with planning, leading and supporting change programmes, redeployment and removal of roles, and fair selection processes.
- Ability to operate at pace, manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving business needs.
- Proven experience leading collective and individual consultation, working with Trade Unions and colleague forums.
- Deep understanding of the Employment Rights Act 2025 and ability to translate legislation into practical advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex issues clearly.
- Knowledge of absence management, conduct, grievances, performance and use of MI.
Interview Process
- Recruiter intro/screening call.
- 1st stage interview with Employee Relations Team Leader(s).
- 2nd interview with Hiring Leader/Employee Relations Manager.
- 3rd interview with Head of Employee Relations.
